Subject: The Good The Bad The Weird
Security: Public
I saw The Good The Bad The Weird in theaters! I liked it as much as Shoot'Em Up. The music is really good, except for the 30 or so minutes they have no music! I was pretty sad about that. It also sort of drops a side-story. Still it was enjoyable and I want more and more from asia-westerns.

This was also the first Korean movie I liked. The previous 2 I saw were Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter...and Spring (zzzzz) and Memories: 2009 (I FUCKING HATE JAPENSE FUCK FUCK FUCK). Something I've noticed in Korean films is their willinginess to feature other languages. I really like that.

Also saw There Will Be Blood. Which I liked more than Synecdoche, NY. I really didn't like Synecdoche. I understand why others like it, I guess? Still I didn't feel I got anything from it. Need to watch TWBB again, now that I know what it is.

Another Hollywood Video Closing and I picked up: King of Kong, Dais de Santiago, and Be Kind Rewind. More just fun movies. I've heard of the second? Maybe it will be good?

I should go ahead and set up a new blog at this point. It's only laziness now that I don't. This thing doesn't do it for me anymore, and I'm holding off on writing things because I don't want them on here.

For whatever reason!

Quick list of things I've played this year!
Prince of Persia: Two Thrones
Alone in the Dark Inferno
Retro Game Challenge
Hotel Dusk
Circle of the Moon
Headhunter
Soul Reaver
Ecco the Dolphin
Sonic 2
Doom 3
Persona 4
Ryu Ga Gotoku
FF:Crisis Core
DJ Max Fever
PC Genjin
Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee
Grabbed by Ghoulies
Advent Rising
Grid
Flow
Everday Shooter
Rayman 2
Prinny: Can I really be the hero?

lots of Modern Warfare 2

I see friends trying to watch a film a week, or a game a week, or 100 piece of media a year. So I figured I'd try for something like that without listing it. Now I figured I should try and list it. I'm not exactly going for completion. I'm going for UNTIL I AM DEATHLY SICK OF IT. Which for Munch's Oddysee was about 30 minutes!

Subject: This is news from the front
Security: Public
News 1: I still don't have a job.

News 2: This is because my parents keep ending up in the hospital! Seriously. Everytime I seriously look for a job, my parents end up in the hospital. It's kind of annoying!

Real news, Yuri is coming to America for less than a week come friday. That'll be another batch of fun. Maybe I'll get her "Coming to America" starring Eddie Murphy on US DVD which is unusable on JP-DVD Players.

Haven't sold near enough of my game collection yet!

My mom is having a ridiculously hard time coming to grips with my father dying. She got really upset that my dad said he's going to resign. "Maybe you'll live another 10 years?" "What if you were misdiagnosed." Yeah misdiagnosed for those coughing fits he has every day! The strangest part is, she turned around and ten minutes later said, "I have plan. I'm going to trade in the old Honda and your truck and get John a new car." "What am I (My father) going drive?" "Oh well, the honda is old and I don't trust John with the truck."

She said this 100% perky compared to mess of emotions she was 10 minutes ago. So yeah she's going crazy.

And I'm doing push ups and getting bigger arms. It's neat. I just need to keep it up.

I wanted to play a game that was dumb and pretty. So I picked up Crisis Core!

The writing is really like what a 14 year old would think was cool. A true hero has to have dreams. Do you have a dream Zack?. It continues the long line of Japanese video games where I see the opening cutscene and go, "Man I wish someone made a video game of that."

It also has a deep psychological problem. At every save point your choices are "Save" and "Delete". That's kind of nasty thinking that you make it a constant present choice for the player to go ahead and delete their save file. I love how at set points in the story I get, "Save", "Delete", "Do Nothing" over a black screen.

Playing on a UMD, so the loading is kind of awful too. I suppose I could just rip it like every other game that isn't DJ Max.

Also the game doesn't have a continue option which is inexplicable for a portable, action game. I still feel kind of sick when I think how FFXIII drops you right outside the battle you lost at, allowing you to regroup. Not because it's there, because that's a great option, but because it was progress from the 12 "main" final fantasies before it.

Subject: Beverages in America
Security: Public
I have a unique situation with beverages in America.

High Fructose Corn Syrup makes my chest stopped up (I guess that's how I would describe it, I start choking if I laugh)
Brown Tea gives me a headache
Aspartame hurts the twins
Americans do fucked up stuff to green tea
I don't drink alcohol
Milk and Juice make my teeth feel disgusting

That leaves me with drinking tap water or coffee at restaurants. The tap water gives me ulcers but I've gotten used to that, because it's the least painful side effect.

Though someone explain to me why drinking water makes me thirsty? Like I switched to this regiment about a month ago, and I am always thirsty now in a way that when I drank soda I never had.

Subject: Final Fantasy XIII

Maybe I should have posted this before it came out in English. Thanks to Yuri I've played briefly the Japanese edition. I can only play this game in Japanese, because one of the main girl characters is painfully Japanese. The thought of hearing her in a non-original language would infuriate me. This has been confirmed by my two hours playing the game.

It's freaking creepy linear! Literally 30 seconds into the opening movie I thought, "Man I wished they'd make a video game about this!"

My friend who had never played an RPG said, what do you mean? this look looks bad ass.

Then he saw the battle system.

"You're joking?"

It looks weird. It looks really weird how GORGEOUS the game is and that it's still doing RPG battles. I would probably have sex with every single character I've seen so far. Outside of the disgusting fat American that was in the background of several shots. It was actually kind of funny. Holy lord the characters are awesome. My god does playing the game get infuriatingly boring.

Let me say this for probably the 8th time. There's a tutorial before the first battle on how to select attack. Your only options are attack and item. Thirty minutes later you get a tutorial on how to use ITEM. 10 minutes before that you get a tutorial on how to break the enemy. You can only use attack at that point. It's like, what's the point?

A. They don't trust the player to figure things out on his own.
B. They tell a player how to do something before they can do it in a meaniful way.
C. They somewhat acknowledge that their battle system is fucking boring, so they mention before the first boss that you can use ITEM to heal your characters.

But the enemy designs are awesome. And the music is well, fun to have in the background. The painfully Japanese girl fights with Deer Antlers on a stick. The antlers turn into fishing line and hits 3 times. It's literally the weirdest weapon I've ever seen!

One of the characters uses only their fists to punch guys with guns. His secondary character teammates have guns. One of the teammates has his hair on fire with cornrows on the side. The other is a FIREBALL OF HOT Latin girl. I would pay 60 dollars for a full game of her.

You literally like the two main characters from the first scene they are in. I have absolutely no clue what's going on in the plot. Which doesn't matter, because it's all about GOING FORWARD.

Subject: PUSHUPS
Security: Public
I just did pushups for twenty minutes. This was recommended for my body type to do once a week if I just want to get in shape. I've also taken to doing jumping jacks inbetween rounds of modern warfare 2. If I can tomorrow, I think I'm going to run the active dog before I walk both dogs. This is to start going for that 6-six pack and Bruce Lee body that I could actually have if I worked at it for a minimal amount of time.

Might as well cook some tofu and vegatables tomorrow. I mean got that kimchee paste and all.

So yesterday my mom's orange cat (named orange) was crawling around like they were blind and crying. She ended up dying last night. I felt almost nothing for the cat, but I am going to guess it ate some of my mom's medicine and ODed. I ended up putting it in a trash bag, pouring some baking soda and bleach in the bag, putting the bag in another bag, then putting it in the garbage.

That's a weird life experience.

Okay, this has been bothering me since the day I've come back to America. There's this show on MTV, the buried life. About 100 things these friends want to do before they die. I guess It's 4 friends and a camera crew, because you constantly see the four friends in one shot. Just about every episode is "Oh man how are we going to sneak a camera into THIS place."

One of the things on their list is "deliver a baby." I mean...what? I'm pretty sure they did like every other episode and snuck a camera into a hospital then found some random couple and then snuck a camera into the pregnant woman's vagina.

It bothers me on some innate level. Much like the ending of D2. I feel wrong saying this, but right in the belief of saying, "get a girlfriend, make a wife, and deliver your own freaking baby. Stay the fuck out of stranger's most personal moments."

After listening to this album pirated for about 2 months, I going to place an order for it and Ponyo on Bluray on Amazon right now.

I was originally pretty depressed by this song, because it felt like a flood of circle (who released my favorite EP last year) had gone pop-punk. Also because I'm really not sure what the hell is going on in that music video. I mean I understand what's going on, but uh..what's the point?

Probably should just pay attention to the lyrics.

When music doesn't go where you expect it to.

Subject: Various Games
Security: Public
Here are notes on the various games I have been playing to pass the tedium of day to day life.

I tried to give Soul Reaver a go then the game killed my save game 5 hours in. I find it interesting how praised the first game was, and then Soul Reaver 2 was supposedly the same game but got middling scores. I also like how Soul Reaver 2 nullifies Soul Reaver's story. I was enjoying it, I'm just not going to go through those block puzzles again.

So I started Sakura Taisen 3. The anime movies have pretty high production values. I really need to learn basic military terms in Japanese already.

Rayman 2 is finished and it is still a nice little game.Going to check gamefaqs if there is a secret ending or whatever.

Recovering health

To recover your health while in the game, tap the R button in a constant rhythm.

Woah, that's kind of cool. Keep in mind you lose a tiny bit of your health when you fall in a pit/explode. I never ran out of health in the game. The freaking minigame you get to play if you finish the level with all the collectables is still freaking annoying. I hate track and field alternate button presses games though.

So going back down my list of remaining dreamcast games, I saw oh Sonic Adventure. Played that during 9/9/09. The big the cat levels really aren't that bad, and the level design is pretty atrocious after stage one. If they had made a game that was all overworld I would have loved it. Still would love it! Just tell me to go get the seven chaos emeralds. Get some zelda in my sonic.

Would have really helped Rayman 2 if there wasn't 10 second loading in between areas of stages.

So MDK2? No fuck that, never playing that impossibly hard game again. Not sure why I still own. Probably because it's worth jack shit. I think. Nope it looks like it's worth 10 bucks. okay ebay!

Oh man. The only dreamcast game I never finished. Ecco the Dolphin. Hell i never even beat the first stage. Again, I'm surprised I still own it. I gave it a go though. Took me an hour to beat that first stage. 3D Underwater fog world + no map + adventure game bullshit. Going to see how much of this game I can stand before I feel like breaking the disc in half.

This game could really use a map. I remember reading in reviews the later levels are amazing.

Then I might play Silent Hill Homecoming or GRiD. Picked them up from one of the closing Hollywood videos.

Nah I'll just play more Modern Warfare 2.

Played like 10 hours of Fallout 3! This is after I've beaten the game about two months ago. I'm sort of cleaning up, getting some trophies. Noticing that game/PSN screwed me out of two quest trophies that I did complete, but couldn't do anything about.

The Oasis quest, why wasn't there more stuff like that! And less endless repeating overworld/building/sewer.

I plan on doing Agatha's quest, killing the behemoths, finding 100 locations, and leveling up to 20 with good karma. Already got bad karma by going psycho on the towns with my shotgun. I was driven out by people I could not make stay dead. Then I killed slightly less people for neutral karma and then went to Evergreen hills for the rest!

Need to do 10 bobbleheads thing too. You know I didn't find a single one in my normal questing? Would probably help if the game wasn't so damn repetitive.

So that's 5 more trophies.

I think I'm finished with Fallout 3 and unless I really want to try for the rest of the trophies. The game screwed me out of 3 of the quest trophies. It didn't recognize two of them even though I completed them, and the third I was just starting out and had no energy and went to sleep in an empty bed and woke up and everyone hated me.

So back to Modern Warfare 2 online! And Uru (haven't started yet Cuba.)

Oh it's konami week. I should start Silent Hill:Homecoming.

I give up on that Ecco the Dolphin bullshit. I spent 20 minutes trying to get that jump for the last crystal in the last stage of the first world. That was a confusing sentence! I might have the patience to try it again later, but then there's probably MORE of that bullshit later in the game. What if? That would make me waste my time with a game I don't like. Even if it bugs me I haven't beaten it. I need to stop. It's for my health. Just stop and sell it. I could be playing Shenmue or Jet Grind Radio or even Jet Set Radio Future (!) .

I think I'm getting obsessed with Trophies though.

Just about time for another backlog thread.

Oh yeah pretty sure BlazBlue is over my head. I played some more of it, and gah. Maybe some SBers are up for playing with me, maybe some SBers can convert me (talking ps3 version over here.)

! I play a lot of games! I started Suikoden 1 (for FKW). It's quaint! It's ugly and low budget. It's only like 12 hours right?
